It’s E3 again, and while I’m not as hyped about things as I was last year, I still can’t resist checking out the stuff that involves and revolves around shooting things with guns. Titanfall 2’s one of them, and Respawn Entertainment has revealed both its multiplayer and singleplayer campaign in trailer form.

Multiplayer first. The parkouring, verticality and action – whether involving Pilots, Titans or both – sure look fun, but it pretty much looks like more of the same, albeit with nicer graphics and some additions like new Titan abilities and a fun-looking grappling hook for pilots to mess with. And if you weren’t interested in the first Titanfall, then I think it’s unlikely that Titanfall 2 will attract your fancy.

Now, for singleplayer. Here’s the plot, which I’ve ripped straight from the video description:

“Pilot and Titan unite as never before in Respawn Entertainment’s highly anticipated Titanfall® 2. Featuring a crafted single player campaign that explores the unique bond between man and machine, players will step on to The Frontier as a Militia rifleman with aspirations of becoming a Pilot. Stranded behind IMC enemy lines, and against overwhelming odds, you must team up with a veteran Vanguard-class Titan and uphold a mission you were never meant to carry out.”

So it’s a story of man and machine, with war, guns, parkour, explosions and mech abilities to further spice things up. There’s less gameplay shown here compared to the multiplayer trailer, but the gameplay shouldn’t be too different from the multiplayer. The biggest question for me is the level design, namely how linear/open the levels be. Hopefully there’ll be a nice mix of both, and that if there’re open levels they won’t just be uninteresting open spaces that aren’t a joy to navigate or fight in.

Titanfall 2 will release on October 28 for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC (Origin).
